Avian & Blue2 go back to school

Over the past month Avian and Blue2 have been involved in delivering brand workshops to S3 pupils at Brechin High School who have for whatever reason, become disengaged with education, have behavioural needs or suffer from social confidence issues.

The Trust Rugby & Life Skills (tRLS) project is an initiative of Strathmore Rugby Club Community Trust (SRCCT) who are a registered charity with the aim of furthering participation in Rugby in Angus. The project has been created to address things like behavioural issues, social confidence and personal development through sessions/workshops that are underpinned by the values of Rugby and the discipline the game instills.

Over the course of the month Barry and Nial hosted two brand and logo workshops with the aim of working with the children to educate them in the importance of branding and design. These workshops were designed to break down barriers by getting the pupils to work together and communicate effectively through a fun learning approach.

Our key goal was to encourage the pupils to come up with a new name/brand and design a logo for the project which would replace the ‘tRLS’ brand for future initiatives. Working with the pupils in groups we explored naming ideas, colour theory and ultimately hand drawn logo ideas which would be taken and worked up to a final stage by the Avian design team. We had lots of fun in this session exploring different logo options, colours and brand names to encourage the children to come up with their own unique ideas.

The project culminated in a final ‘Dragons Den’ style pitch session where each group presented their preferred logo idea to a panel which included Rector of Brechin High School, Archie Bathgate and members of the SRCCT team.

It really was a pleasure to be asked to be involved in this project. We had great fun engaging with the groups and took tremendous pride watching as they confidently pitched their ideas.
