About You

We’re looking for an experienced and versatile Midweight Designer to join the Creative team at Avian. You’ll bring a wealth of experience in design and a portfolio of work that demonstrates your creative vision as well as your solid rational design thinking. You’ll be excited to take your career and our business to the next level and be brimming with ideas as to how you’d like to see our company grow, push boundaries, and create amazing work.

We’re a small outfit with big goals; we need someone to complement our talented team of designers to create exceptional work that will innovate and excite. Enthusiasm is paramount in this role – we’re looking for someone who will ensure that our creative output is always at a high standard, and fearless with new ideas.

Roles and Responsibilities

Support the Creative Director and senior team to provide consistent, collaborative, and importantly creative thinking.

Ensure that creative output remains at a high standard and push boundaries and help take Avian to places we haven’t been before.

You will be invested in your continued personal development to advance your skills and experience and help mentor and nurture junior members of the team, as we grow as a business.

Your approach will consistently reflect our group brand values; you will have a deep understanding of what is or isn’t ‘us’ and be able to respond to projects and campaigns accordingly.

Receive and respond to briefs in a creative and considerate way and design engaging brand led treatments with a strong emphasis on visual storytelling and creative finish.

You will work collaboratively with ALTAR Group sister companies across digital, marketing and PR outputs.


Personal Skills

You will have a passion for design and a high level of accuracy and obsessive attention to detail.

Ambition – you want to see Avian (and by extension, ALTAR Group) go far, and you’re full of future-facing ideas.

Experience with brand development and particularly within the food and drink sector for packaging, branding and design are essential. Experience with animation, videography and 3D would be a bonus, or at least an eagerness to learn.

A strong portfolio of ideas that demonstrates both a creative and strategic understanding.

Exceptional knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign/Illustrator/Photoshop). Skills in Blender, After Effects and Premiere Pro would also be beneficial.

Awareness of current design developments, emerging technologies and an interest in new ways of working.

Excellent at communicating, a positive, can-do attitude and a great sense of humour.
