Blazing new trails with Maggies Penguin Parade

Avian and Blue2 are pleased to announce their partnership with Maggie’s ‘Penguin Parade’ as creative and digital sponsors. We are delighted to support this innovative and exciting project that aims to further increase awareness of the need to raise funds for people affected by cancer.

Nial Chapman, Digital Director at Blue2 said, ‘It is great to be able to contribute to such a worthwhile cause, in a truly meaningful way’. Avian and Blue2 were digital sponsors with the successful Oor Wullie Bucket Trail that ran in association with the Archie Foundation, raising over £883,000. We are confident that Maggie’s ‘Penguin Parade’ will be another great success story, showcasing the talents of local artists and one which will surely capture the imagination of the people of Dundee and encourage many to support and get involved in this creative project.

Over the Summer months of 2018, it is planned that the streets of Dundee and the surrounding areas will be home to a unique trail of individually designed and imaginatively decorated giant penguin sculptures. This inspiring concept is brought to you by Maggie’s Centre Dundee, in partnership with Wild Art, and it aims to raise significant funds to support the vital ongoing work carried out by Maggie’s. Wild Art is the global leader in the organisation of mass participation public arts events, bringing together local artists, communities and schools in conjunction with private and public sector organisations to create major events for all to enjoy.

Dundee has had a long association with penguins and Antartica. RRS Discovery berthed at Discovery Point, Dundee transported Captain Scott and Ernest Shackleton to the polar region famous for its various species of penguins. The 100 strong ‘Waddle’, (yes, that’s the collective noun for penguins), is sure to turn heads and become a real topic of conversation throughout Tayside and beyond and go on to raise significant funds for Maggie’s.

We wish the project every success. Find out more about the project here
